KaRaiya
From the novel entitled "Danark: A Thief's Tale".

In order for the new Danark book to work, I need a character like KaRaiya to be born. The name KaRaiya I took from a coworker, but I'm sure she didn't mind as KaRaiya is the strongest character in the book. Well, it depends on the atmosphere. In that, she's kind of like Superman where his powers are what they are on Earth because of the Yellow Sun. With KaRaiya, her powers are defined by the atmosphere on the planet which is great to write because on one planet, she's the hero, on another planet, she's mortal and is the one who needs protecting. She's both the hero and damsel in distress depending on what planet she's on.

As far as the love story between her and Anjanee, I think it brings a dynamic to the character as well as she's not just protecting her new friend in battle, but she also needs her as well on the planets where she's mortal. Anjanee herself is nothing but a mortal with cybernetic enhancements, but still just a mortal. KaRaiya tends to stay on planets where she can't be harmed, so the idea of needing help is new to her. Once she finds out who Anjanee was hired by, there is a level of betrayal, but the time she had spent with her friend had her feeling loved, and it’s something she needs to find out if is true.

To be honest, I didn't know what direction the character was going until I started writing. About halfway through the story, I decided her fate. With all the action, battles, fighting, and whatnot, Danark: A Thief's Tale is nothing more than a love story in space, and I enjoyed every minute I spent with this character as she became the backbone of a crew sent out to capture her.

"I'm not scared of you. I'm scared of what I might do to you. Please, just walk away. I don't want any trouble. Just... just please."- KaRaiya to a prisoner looking to take advantage of her.
