Renise
If you know the lore of the No One series, you already know “Renise” isn’t a real name—it’s a rank in the No One Organization, sitting just below “Simone.”
In No One Dies Twice, we follow one of the Renise agents, someone Simone personally tests during missions.

When I wrote Renise, I wanted her to feel just as capable as Simone—just greener. She’s eager to learn, knowing she could be called up to the Simone rank one day. She represents who Simone used to be: bold, reckless, and maybe even a better fighter (if you ask Geoffrey). Renise is an up-and-comer, and she’s vital to the story.

In the first book, we saw Simone’s relationships mostly through the men in her life—whether personal or within the organization. This time, we get something different: a bond between two women in the field. We see Simone reflect on how she was once trained, showing more compassion than she ever received. And Renise, in turn, is the one trying to keep her boss grounded during her darkest moments.

They’re more than teammates—they’re a mirror of each other; the present and future looking at each other, trying to understand. And that’s exactly what I wanted to show.

"That’s because you’re shortsighted. It’s not about fitting in, it’s about doing what you’re good at and what you love. And with our thing, it’s about what’s best for the country,” Renise explains. “This life… this is just crazy to me, chica. Especially with what you’re able to do.” - Renise to Simone, comparing a civilian life to her duties to the agency.
