Bubbles

Bubbles is such a unique character that she appears in multiple works of mine. While she’s mainly known for The Professionals Series, where she works in the call center alongside her cousin Black Barbie, she also appears in After Hours and Life After Death: Rules of the Widowed, where she plays a stripper in both stories. They are the same character, which immediately connects the comedic stories in the same universe.

The name Bubbles is derived from a real life discussion in the call center that took place at one of my previous jobs. Just like in The Professionals, a young woman with big curves and heels was labeled as Bubbles by the team I was working with. She was attractive and grabbed all the men’s attention whenever she was around. Outside of the attractiveness and the name, the real-life “Bubbles” and the literary version have no other matching attributes.

The reason she’s in three of my works (so far) is that it’s a running joke between me and some of my early readers (those who worked at the call center mentioned). I’m sure she’ll pop up whenever a story calls for her, but she’s a pretty unique character to say the least. In The Professionals, she was the rival of fan favorite Malcolm, as the two went back and forth with their cruel attacks on each other. The two rivals ended the story with a polygamous relationship with Malcolm’s wife, which was a fitting end to her storyline there. She was also part of the more serious storyline where she became pregnant and had a miscarriage in the series, and also got into a fist fight with Tasha on the call center floor, so she’s had her share of drama.

Bubbles is also a master manipulator, which she shows in The Professionals and After Hours. In the latter, she hooks up with play boy retail worker, Malik, in the back of the store warehouse, only to steal his wallet from him, which he doesn’t find out until she’s already gone, creating a hilarious moment with the play boy.

In Live After Death: Rules of the widowed, she works as a stripper in a strip club that’s a front for a prostitution ring, and is looking to hook up with the main character, Preston, who is looking to move past the sudden death of his wife. The two have a conversation that warms Bubbles’ heart, and are about to finally connect before the police rush into the room, arresting them both in hilarious fashion.

What’s next for Bubbles? I’m not sure yet, but whenever there is a need for a sexy, manipulative woman to come up, best believe Bubbles will be there, making a name for herself as she has done so many times before!
